The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) conducts monitoring of its 2023 innovation grants to Cebu Normal University’s “From Farm to Market: Co-creating the Cinnamon Industry in Cebu” project.

The project, which aims to elevate Cebu’s cinnamon sector, secured a P4.9 million innovation grant from NEDA last year to establish a state-of-the art processing plant in Alegria, where cinnamon (locally known as “mana”) is said to be abundant, and to offer training programs and workshops to locals.

Camille Rivera-Argana, Supervising Economic Development Specialist and innovation staff of NEDA’s Innovation Fund Management Division (IFMD), gives an overview of the NEDA innovation programs and grants, and the monitoring activity.

Dr. Jay Picardal, CNU cinnamon project leader, also presents the status, accomplishments, and challenges in implementing the project. Dr. Genara Pacaña, for her part, shares the journey of the project’s community development aspect.

Prior to the opening briefing and presentation, the NEDA monitoring composed of Rivera-Argana, OIC Supervising Economic Development Specialist Cheska Espino, Economic Development Specialist II Ijy James Lomibao, Economic Development Specialist 1 Gina Reyes, and Economic Development Specialist II Rodolfo S. De Gracia, Jr. pay a courtesy on CNU President Dr. Daniel Ariaso, Sr.

Present also during the activity are Cinnamon project team members Dr. Roberto Corcino, Dr. Marchee Picardal, Dr. Lelani Dapat,and Prof. Gerome Lasala.

Nagpahigayon og monitoring ang buhatan National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) sa ilang 2023 innovation grants sa Cebu Normal University nga “From Farm to Market: Co-creating the Cinnamon Industry in Cebu” nga proyekto.
